This made my week!

In honor of their new album "Hot Sauce Committee Part Two" dropping May 3rd, The Beastie Boys rounded up just about all the cool people in Hollywood to put together this amazing spoof of themselves for their single "Make Some Noise".  One word...classic.

They've also just released the full 30 minute short "Fight For Your Right Revisited" which you can check out HERE on their YouTube page.

OFWGKTA

Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All is truly the future. These kids are crazy and they're taking over hip hop. Being dubbed "The New Wu-Tang", this 11-person hip hop collective from LA does not hold back when it comes to the lyrics. Front man, Tyler The Creator's rhymes are "dazzling blurs of violence, jokes and emotional bloodletting"...you gotta hear this stuff.

Check out his video for his single "YONKERS"...so bizarre, but I love it!

Tyler's album "GOBLIN" drops May 10th

Director Spotlight: Sidney Lumet RIP

On April 9th, 2011, the film world lost one of it's greats. Mr. Sidney Lumet, who's directorial debut, 12 ANGRY MEN (1957), a must study for any film student, passed away Saturday morning at his home in Manhattan. He was 86.

Lumet's films are quintessential American classics. Three of his films are listed on the American Film Institute's 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time; SERPICO (1973) at #84, THE VERDICT (1982) at #75 and 12 ANGRY MEN at #42.  Some of his other films include NETWORK (1976), perhaps one of his most acclaimed films, DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975) his last film BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR DEAD (2007) and one of my child hood favorites THE WIZ (1978).

He was nominated for 5 Oscars, unfortunately never winning one, but in 2005 the Academy presented him with an honorary Academy Award.

OMG! This is FIRE!

I don't know who these kids are but what they did to this song is by far one of the sickest things ever. Homegirl's voice is bananas! How she nails Busta Rhymes's verse is so impressive...almost better than the original...I'm just sayin'.

Get Familiar: James Blake

James Blake is definitely a name you wanna get familiar with. I see it now...this kid is going places. When I first heard one of his songs I couldn't quite figure out what his sound was. Some people are calling it "electronic R&B" which is probably the best way to describe it. But call it what you want, you can't deny that his style is remarkably fresh and original.  Check out his site!

Awesomely Horrible Movies: When Animals Attack!

I'm starting a new category called "Awesomely Horrible Movies!" Movies that are so bad you can't help but love them. My first topic: When Animals Attack.

So this new gig I'm working on requires me to watch movies and pull scenes (pretty amazing huh?) well my co-worker Kevin was just watching Piranha 3D and he loves it! So it got us thinking of some other movies that have killer animals. My favorite is ANACONDA (1997) starring Ice Cube and classic J.Lo. He's all about LAKE PLACID (1999) starring Bill Pullman and Betty White, the movie about the man eating crocodile.

What are some other "awesomely horrible movies" with killer animals? We could only think of the following: Arachnophobia (1990), Bats (1999), Congo (1995), Eight Legged Freaks (2002), Man's Best Friend (1993) Snakes on a Plane (2006), Tremors (1990)

*Obviously we didn't include JAWS because that is actually a good movie.
