Get Excited: FRUITVALE STATION
Guess who's back?!
Yes. Yes. I know. It's been forever and a day since my last post. But I was waiting for something worthy of my comeback...and you are all in luck. One of the films I'm most looking forward to this year just released it's trailer.
Check out the Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner, FRUITVALE STATION. This film is quite possibly the year's first major Oscar player...and I can't wait to see it! Starring Michael B. Jordan of THE WIRE and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, the film depicts the true story of 22-year old Oscar Grant, who was fatally shot by a police officer in an Oakland Transit station on New Year's Day.
This also marks the directorial debut of Mr. Ryan Coogler...he's the future.

I know. My first post of 2013 and I'm a month late...shame on me. Hopefully you all will forgive me after I share this amazing cover with you.
I've recently discovered R&B artist, Phlo Finister thanks to this NPR article I read entitled "6 Women At The Cutting Edge of R&B"(check it out: NPR). She has a few EPs out and released a full length album last year called "Silver Hill."
On her first EP "Crown Gold", she does a cover of one of my favorite songs ever, Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). Now, that song is brilliant as is, but Phlo gives it this dope R&B vibe with a sample of Mobb Deep's Shook Ones Pt. II. LOVE!
