The man behind the dream

"Thought: Why does man kill? He kills for food. And not only food: frequently there must be a beverage." - Woody Allen

It's only right that I start my blog off praising the man that inspires me to want to make great comedies...Mr. Woody Allen. Many people are quick to write Mr. Allen off for reasons regarding his personal life. Yes, he married his adopted daughter when she was only 16, but who are we to judge. I try not to think about it.

However, many forget that Mr. Allen is one of the most prolific American directors of his generation, who has written, directed and more often than not, starred in a film just about every year since 1969. He even has more Academy Award nominations (14 to be exact) for writing than anyone else. He's the man!

Now, if you're not too familiar with this man's work, let me make a few suggestions to get you started:

Start off with his classics...

"Annie Hall"  - 1977
(Winner of 4 Academy Awards including 'Best Picture')

"Manhattan" - 1979

"Hannah and Her Sisters" - 1986
(Winner of 3 Academy Awards)

...then move on to some recent hits...
"Vicky Cristina Barcelona" - 2008

"Match Point" - 2005

...and if you want more, try some of my favorites...

"Bullets Over Broadway" - 1994

"Take the Money and Run" - 1969
